
Rev. Conrad A. Braaten, a 1972 graduate of Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, MN has been at Church of the Reformation since the summer of 2001. Pastor Braaten has served the ELCA for 35 years. The last seven have been at Reformation. He has a background of work with young adults, social service agencies, multi-cultural settings, parish development and congregational ministry, primarily in the southeast Florida area. From 1987 – 1991 he worked with the church-wide expression of the ELCA as a specialist in Urban Ministry and Congregational Social Ministry, reflecting a commitment to the public witness of the Christian faith in the world. Pastor Braaten is married to Dr, Jennifer Braaten, President of Ferrum College, Ferrum, VA (Methodist-based institution) and has two grown children, Kirsten Braaten Stanley of Delray Beach, FL and Conrad D. Paul Leavitt
Paul Leavitt, Reformation’s Director of Music and the Arts, is a renowned pianist and composer of sacred and classical music. He principally leads the Reformation Choir and accompanies Sunday worship, but also plays for special events and arranges concerts throughout the year, often with national and international guest musicians. Diane Liesman
Formerly a long-time Chief of Staff on Capitol Hill for members from her home state of Illinois, Diane Liesman recently joined the Reformation staff as Parish Administrator and oversees the day-to-day operation of the office, manages the production of all communications, and coordinates the calendar and space use of the church property. Beginning in 2010 Diane is also the Coordinator of Small Group Ministries for Reformation. Ragnar Thoresen
As Property Manager and responsible for a total of 80 rooms on the property, Ragnar Thoresen, came to Reformation ready for his responsibilities after working as a general contractor on Capitol Hill. He is familiar with the challenges of maintaining and renovating historic buildings. He and his family have been members of Reformation for many years. Anne Sanyi
Anne Sanyi, Part-time Youth and Family Coordinator, organizes programs and facilitates events for youth and their families, including vacation bible school, retreats, mission trips, and day-long outings. She came with a wonderful recommendation from the Pastor of her home congregation in Iowa, where she worked on the staff in Youth and Family Ministry. Chester Hart
Chester Hart, long-time Sexton at Reformation, is everyone’s go-to person, every day of the week, not just on Sundays. He meets the needs of long-term and short-term users of the Parish Hall and the Sanctuary and secures the property. Florence Heckman
Florence "Flossie" Heckman volunteers in the office three and a half days a week and serves the church in numerous capacities with her eye for detail and dedication to such things as altar care and other important parts of our worship. Singing praise to our Lord as one of the altos in the choir is one of her passions. Flossie worked for six years at the Library of Congress and twenty seven years as the reference librarian at the National Science Foundation. She has been a member of Reformation for nearly fifty years!
Norma Meyer
Norma Meyer, a former member of Reformation (for almost thirty nine years), volunteers in the office one day a week and occasionally provides special music for our services. Norma retired from the U. S. Naval Observatory and now volunteers at the National Lutheran Home and Alexandria Hospital, in addition to her Tuesdays in the office at Church of the Reformation.
